Richard McCulloch Jones, Jr.
Rick Jones was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1959, and has lived in California, Florida, Indiana, Nevada, and Colorado, as well as Spain, France, and Italy. He graduated Cum Laude with honors from Culver Military Academy and received an A.B. in Economics from Stanford University.

In 1985, Rick graduated from the University of Denver with dual graduate degrees, a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in law and a Masters (M.B.A.) in business. Even though it was his intent to be a businessman rather than a practicing lawyer, Rick graduated in the top 11% of his law school class and received two American Jurisprudence awards (Contracts, Secured Transactions). After graduating Beta Gamma Sigma and at the top of his class from business school (with an emphasis in strategic planning), he worked as a Senior Consultant for the national accounting firm Laventhol & Horwath.

In 1986, Rick became the General Manager of the Aspen Highlands Ski Area, which had been founded in 1959 by his grandfather. After five years there, Rick left Aspen Highlands, not only with increased management skills, business sophistication and maturity, but also with that special knowledge that can only be gained by actually working in and experiencing the dynamics of a family owned business. In 1991, Rick founded Aspen Consulting Group, Ltd., a small business consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, competitive analysis, and management systems, styles, and structures.

In 1998, as a result of some family transitions and wealth transfers, Rick decided to change careers and entered the Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver. He excelled, receiving his LL.M. in Taxation and graduating with an A average and top course marks in Research & Writing, Estate Planning, Fiduciary Income and Qualified Pension and Profit Sharing Plans. Thereafter, Rick returned to Aspen and opened his tax attorney practice specializing in Family Wealth Planning.

Rick is recently divorced and is the loving father of Jacqueline, his teenaged daughter. He stays active in the Aspen business community, and has served as the Chair of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association. He enjoys skiing (snow and water), golf, tennis, hunting and fishing (freshwater and salt), and feels blessed to live in Colorado's majestic mountains.

B. Lee Schumacher (Of Counsel).
Lee was born in Akron, Ohio, in 1952. He received a B.S. in Biology from Allegheny College in 1974, a J.D. in 1979 and an LL.M. in Taxation in 1980, both from the University of Denver. He was a member of the Denver Law Journal and Graduate Editor of the Denver Tax Law Journal. Lee has been practicing law in Aspen since 1982. His practice areas include taxation law, corporations, business planning and real estate.

W. Adam Gillespie (Of Counsel).
Adam was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1972. He received a B.A. in English, History and Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in 1995, and a J.D. from the University of Denver Law School in 2002. Adam has been practicing law in Aspen since 2003. His practice areas include residential and commercial real estate, bankruptcy and business law, and litigation.
